I Want a PhD

A non academic approach to approaching academia When I finished my PhD, I realised that I really enjoyed the process of compiling a piece of work into a book. Well, if you want me to be honest, I didn’t enjoy the process as much as I did enjoy the final outcome of having something on my hands to hold. So I decided to write my second book, which will be about the process of doing a PhD :)

Quake style console on Windows

I am sure many of you remember the legendary Quake series games. We grew up with this stuff. And you remember what was the coolest feature of Quake? No, it was neither the graphics, nor that you could blow your friends in little pieces, after you have killed them: it was the console. It was the only game series that I am aware of (ok, I’m not really a games freak, so don’t take my word for it) that it was offering a ‘console’ to the players.

Less trouble with automatic back-ups: a new cinnamon app

Some years ago, I had a bad situation where I got my laptop stolen… yes, I was stupid, I left the laptop in my car in plain view. Yes, I was stupid and I parked in a quite dangerous zone of the city. But even worse, yes I was stupid and I didn’t have a back-up! Since, wise people learn from their mistakes, I decided to always keep a back-up since then.

Turning a page at reading

After almost 2 years of internal fight between my love for book and my love for technology, the scale finally turned on the other side and I decided that it’s time to turn a page in my reading habits: I bought an ebook reader! I know that some of you might think of me as another book hater, who doesn’t appreciate the smell of old paper and the great feeling at the sound of turning pages, but there are good reasons behind such a choice.

Good reads

Recently I found out about a very nice service for keeping track of the books that you have read, while at the same time giving ratings, reviews and seeing what other people think about the books available out there. The service is called GoodReads and you can create an account for free. You can see my public profile here: www.goodreads.com/tassos Feel free to add me as a friend if you join the service.

Stable version

Finally after all these months, I get to update my website with my new academic position. You can find additional info about my PhD in the dedicated page and in the Personal info page. Even though the information is still limited, since I am still defining my project, new updates will follow soon with more details and information. I am also happy to say that I finally consider this website as complete :) So enjoy your stay and please contact me if you have any questions about the website or my work.

Welcome

Welcome to my personal website. This website aims to be an information point about myself, the projects that I participated in and all the other activities that I was involved in. It is currently under construction, so don’t expect to find a lot of info. However, feel free to give any feedback in case you have any. Thank you for your support! Tassos
